Real name: Masiza Citashe

Mashonisa is one of the key members of and producer Backyard Crew. He has proved himself to have grown as a producer, mainly in hip-hop and later diversified to other genres.

A self-taught producer and powerful spaza MC in his own right, Masho (as he is affectionately known) did not have it easy in the development of his hobby. He started honing his skills by working on unknown cats and they were impressed by this young sagging pants artist. He quit his 2nd year studies at then-Cape Tech after losing interest; or shall we say after gaining more interest in the music production? His solo track "Hayi" is the story about his journey.

With the young girls simply known as TSHOTSHO, Mashonisa came up with a brilliant township house track called "KuseMzantsi". A dance floor favourite, this track is banged in many taxis, braai hangouts and carwash spots. From young girls to young boys, Masho spent time developing and nurturing the skills of 2 young spaza kids called M2K.
